What Makes Dark Violet Different

The tone is deliberately edgy (the readme itself says “immature and edgy”), the levels run high on purpose, and the hack later took Hack of the Year at the PokéCommunity’s 2018 awards. If you would rather keep the original story and only raise the challenge, Fire Red Omega does that.

Key Features

• A rebuilt Kanto. Maps follow the HeartGold and SoulSilver layouts, Route 23 included.
• Red, Green and Blue. Green is a girl, and you can play as her.
• A new cast. Kamon is your rival, and Mr. Fuji is a retiring Champion.
• Reshuffled Gyms. There is an extra Leader in Viridian City, and you can rebattle Gym Leaders.
• 210 Pokémon, 113 new moves. Plenty of familiar names are missing, and the physical/special split is in. Bring a varied team.
• Post-game. The Battle Zone and a Battle Maze wait after the Champion.

How to Play

1. Download the Final V1 Fixed patch with the download button below and extract the .ips file.
2. Have your own clean US FireRed ROM ready. The developer says to use exactly the dump named 1636 – Pokemon Fire Red (U)(Squirrels). LeafGreen won’t work.
3. Open Lunar IPS (or another IPS patcher), pick the patch, then your ROM, and apply.
4. Load the patched file in your GBA emulator. Players report mGBA, VBA-M and My Boy! working.

If the game crashes when a Pokémon uses Flash Cannon (mGBA and real consoles), apply hacksrepairman’s small FinalMoveFix patch from the developer thread to the already patched ROM. Save often, too, since Chaos Rush says some level-up freezes were never fixed. And stick to the developer’s files: the 2022 “Massive Update” is an unofficial edit he says he never approved.
